Global Intervention Group — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Global Intervention Group (“GIG,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit our websites, enroll in SMART Alert, or interact with our programs.

1. Information We Collect

  • Identifiers & Contact Info: name, email, phone number, organization/agency, role.

  • Enrollment & Consent Data: opt-in method (web or signed form), timestamps, confirmation (YES), and preferences.

  • Communications: messages you send to us; responses to SMART Alert (e.g., YES/STOP/HELP).

  • Device & Usage Data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and similar analytics data (e.g., via cookies).

  • Operational Data: information necessary to coordinate alerts with authorized partners and law enforcement.
    We do not knowingly collect data from survivors seeking immediate help through this site; if you are in danger, call 911.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide and manage SMART Alert and partner communications.

  • Verify identity and maintain opt-in/opt-out records for compliance.

  • Improve services, troubleshoot, and ensure security.

  • Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect safety.

3. SMS-Specific Disclosures

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

  • You can opt out at any time by replying STOP; reply HELP for help.

  • We maintain logs required to demonstrate consent and compliance.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality and analytics (e.g., Google Analytics). You can manage cookies in your browser settings.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Service Providers/Processors that help us operate (e.g., Twilio for messaging, website/IT vendors, analytics providers).

  • Authorized Partners & Law Enforcement in connection with operational alerts and safety work, consistent with applicable law and MOUs.

  • Legal/Compliance: if required by law, regulation, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property.
    We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6. Data Retention

We retain information as needed to provide services, maintain compliance records (including consent logs), resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. When no longer needed, data is deleted or de-identified.

7. Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. No system is 100% secure; please use caution and report suspected issues to security@globalinterventiongroup.org (or support@globalinterventiongroup.org).

8. Your Choices & Rights

  • Opt-Out of SMS: reply STOP at any time.

  • Access/Update: contact privacy@globalinterventiongroup.org to request access or corrections.

  • US State Privacy Rights: depending on your state (e.g., CA, CO, CT, VA, UT), you may have rights to access, delete, or correct personal information, or limit certain uses. Submit requests to privacy@globalinterventiongroup.org. We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests.

  • Do Not Track: we do not respond to DNT signals.

9. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. International Users

We are based in the United States. If you access our services from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be processed in the U.S., where laws may differ from your jurisdiction.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy periodically. We will post changes with a new “Effective date.” Your continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
